April 18th 2014: The board of the conference 'Educating the Educators' invites everyone to submit proposals for research or
practice-oriented contributions to be given during the conference. mascil is hosting the conference which will take place from December 15th to December 16th 2014 at the University of Duisburg-Essen in cooperation with the DZLM (German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education). Further supporters are the
University of Education Freiburg, the University Duisburg-Essen and the EMS (European Mathematical Society). The dedaline for submission of proposals
is Friday, May 30th 2014.

It is possible to submit proposals for paper presentations, posters or demonstrations, such as a simulation of a professional development situation,
demonstration of materials or demonstration of e-learning support platforms.
'Educating the Educators' is the first international conference specifically devoted to the topic of educating the educators such as teachers,
teacher educators, the educators of teacher educators as well as multipliers and institutions engaged in teacher professional
development. It will serve as a lever and platform for international exchange about innovative teaching concepts like inquiry-based learning.
The international conference will connect researchers and practitioners engaged in the field of maths and science education in order to discuss
concepts of scaling-up teacher professional development. The conference will approach the subject from the perspectives of: 1. individual countries and
their particularities, 2. different target-groups and their needs (policy makers, educators of teacher educators) and 3. the end-users such as
teacher educators, teachers and their everyday classroom practice.
The conference will be rounded out with keynote lectures, a poster session and a closing plenary discussion based on the reports of track
rapporteurs. The main target groups of the conference are teacher educators and researchers, multipliers and relevant networks, educators of
multipliers and teacher educators, policy makers, teacher professional development centres, maths and science education support centres,
presidents as well as heads of professional development institutions or centres and relevant networks.
